Savages or What?

I have pondered the various states of political change across the world and am struck by one key fact:  in most of the world political change comes with bloodshed and sometimes gallons and gallons of it.  Why is this and why do Western Europe and the US seemingly enjoy political change without heeps and heeps of horrors?  I believe it is because the moderates are the majority.  In  certain countries moderation is not allowed and so only extremism survives.  It is like the chemistry of Ph.  Extremes only exist at the far end of either the base or the acidic scale.  I believe that is why people like Hammas and ISIS have had so much success because the people in their regions have no available moderation and so only the extreme survives....
