Questions and Answers.......

So in answer to some questions....I offer the following.  My father's father's people are from Punjab in the western part of what is now Pakistan.  I have distant cousins who are Sikhs but the majority of my people are muslim.  My father came here for an education right after the Partition.  My father worked on the Trans-India railway during the Partition and witnessed horrific acts of malice.  I have aunties and uncles although most are now deceased:  Ishram. Aslam. Balou Bhai. Rashid, Razia, Yasmeen and Faisal.  At some point there was a gradual emigration to the states although many stayed behind.  I have  second cousin Zahid who resides in Lahore and has in fact encouraged my sisters and I to become more active online.  In some respects it is out of guilt as he expresses how "unfree" his speech and thought are in Pakistan and that we here in America are blessed with so many freedoms.  It has not gone unnoticed by us that, yes, we are all women and very free at that.  If we were back in Pakistan, I suspect that I would not be writing this now.  I do not wish to let the unwavering spirit of my father and my father's father be extinguished in this generational shift from country to country.  e need to avail ourselves to our lives, liberty and the pursuit of our own happiness because if we were in a different situation, we would not be allowed to do so.
